Atom Zombie Smasher first impressions
Do you like to nuke zombies? I thought so. Do you like to save mankind? Well, at the very least, do you like to score points? Yeah.
Atom Zombie Killer puts you in charge of a small military force with limited resources and one hell of an infection to clear up. And it’s getting worse.
The game takes the form of a campaign where many skirmishes are fought for territory control in order to score points. In initial skirmishes new mercenaries are unlocked and gain experience throughout for various improvements. Each skirmish, the Zed infect more territories and each owned territory gives them points. The campaign is a direct race to 6000 points.
Well, in my first full playthrough I lost. But I loved it! The game provides enough content to feel like it’s worth further exploration but campaigns are short enough to not feel like a chore when they end. Also, some of the weapons are fucking cool.
In short: deceptively simple concept which in practice requires careful forethought for MAXIMUM DEAD ZEDS.
